3dsA pair of Japanese publications have printed some unconfirmed details regarding Nintendo’s brand new 3DS handheld.

According to the Nikkei newspaper, the 3DS’s screen measures at almost four inches diagonally — larger than that found on the DSi but not quite as big as the DSi XL’s. The paper also mentions 3D analog sticks, improvements to the battery life, better wifi, and a vibration function.

The Asahi newspaper, on the other hand, says that the new handheld’s screen will be a parallax barrier LCD from Sharp. This LCD tech is apparently being used in Japan for cellphones. Since it’s backwards compatible with DSi games, expect a camera to be included as well.

Nintendo announced the 3DS earlier today. A full reveal is expected during E3.
