A Closer Look at Issue 8 Of City of Heroes/Villains

ncity of heroes, city of villainsWhereas Issue 7 focused more on the villain side, now it’s the heroes turn on the streets as the new innovative features for City of Heroes are designed to counter the Mayhem Missions of villains.

First of the new features is the Safeguard Missions where heroes stop the mayhem that puts Paragon City in chaos and destruction. The emergency broadcast will come from the new Police Band scanners. The Police Band feature offers functionality similar to that of the Newspaper Missions in City of Villains. This opens a plethora of new missions and rewards for heroes throughout various Hero zones that grants Heroes Police Band access.

Then there’s the Faultline Reborn that transforms hazard zone to a city zone. Since Paragon City’s Measure X passed, reconstruction of Faultline begun and the effort has revealed some major surprises. Heroes and villains can now officially battle with each other with the added feature Pocket D Arenas. The battleground are set using Arena kiosks within the neutral ground of the Pocket D nightclub.

The best addition is the Veteran Rewards program, which is applicable to heroes and villains alike. The Veteran Rewards Program retroactively rewards players from City of Heroes and City of Villains for their past active playing time. This will unlock special costumes, powers, badges and other unique awards for each increment of three months played. This feature is retroactive, meaning the time that players have already played counts towards their rewards. This is applicable to all characters within each respective account.
