Action packed into Hellgate: London gameplay

Finger-licking good screencap of mystically-fried demons

If this trailer from Flagship Studios, via WorthPlaying, is any proof, there are a thousand and one ways to skin a demon in Hellgate: London. Of course, that depends on whether you’re an up-close-and-personal Templar, a gun-freaked Hunter, or you dabble in the dark arts like the Cabalist that you are. Either way, that adds up to one spawn of Hell deep-fried like Momma used to make ’em.

Let’s see, you can slice, dice, julienne, shock, burn, grenade, riddle full of nails, fire purple orbs at, and otherwise maim, torture, and kill the undead (Where were these guys when Buffy needed them in the series finale? Oh yeah – they ain’t the Chosen Ones). As the trailer demonstrates, gameplay will take place in both TPS and FPS perspectives. Shooters will definitely appreciate the advantage of going FPS, improving their aim and their headshots… those demons do have heads, right?

On the other hand, when you’re surrounded by ninjas the enemy, nothing beats the wider, more godlike view of TPS. A very useful perspective especially for the Templar, whose melee skills demand the almost total awareness of where the enemy is so he can get to it.

Remember the dead, remember the living, and remember the Hunter motto (or was it the Cabalist?): the only good demon is a deep-fried demon. Finger-licking good.
