Aedis Eclipse Generation of Chaos for the PSP announced

Cool, another T/SRPG! Now where's my Disgaea Portable?! - Image 1

Yes,  it IS the Year of the Strategic/Tactical PSP!!! Tek Advanced Media reports that NIS America announced… oh drat, it ain’t the Disgaea Portable US version. But for those who enjoy strategic and tactical games, it could still be quite the enjoyable experience: Aedis Eclipse Generation of Chaos, by Idea Factory, the same guys behind Spectral Souls.

Generation of Chaos‘ grand strategy should appeal to budding Napoleons. The first PSP Generation of Chaos scored somewhere along average (or slightly below) in Metacritic, probably because of its rather steep learning curve, though some users did rate it better. Perhaps this follow-up could improve on the title’s image. Here are the key features of Aedis Eclipse:

  • Real-time strategic battle system

(Spits water out in shock) R-r-real-time strategic? We hope Tek read that report right. Real time battle system does not equal to turn-based battle system. Maybe Tiki Games aren’t so ambitious (or out of their league), after all. Hopefully future news will clarify NISA’s use of the term “real-time.” The rest of the features, before our shock rudely interrupted us:

  • Take control of a squad of units during battles
  • Massive multi-front wars
  • Unique board game like field map
  • Three main stories in one game

Aedis Eclipse‘s world is divided into three worlds: Divine, Upper, and Lower (the three main stories, we guess). The Divine World has you stopping a war between angels and demons. In the Upper World the player must save his comrades from the clutches of a ruthless ruler. And the Lower World sucks you into a raging battle that erupts… while you’re in school. Hey, that’s one way to get out of detention.

According to Tek, NISA says that they’ve localized the game, and will be ready for release in April of this year.
