International Talk Like A Pirate Day has come and gone, but Capcom is extending the celebration – and the subsequent bouts of raiding, pillaging, and sinking – all the way into October with Certain Affinity’s Age of Booty, or The Game Formerly Known As Plunder.

At its core, Age of Booty is an RTS, but stripped of all the “complicated, time consuming aspects”. That means no resource gathering, no base building, or giving multiple orders to units. So yeah, maybe it’s not an RTS so much as an action-packed, swashbuckling casual romp.

In Age of Booty, players team up with other people or with AI-controlled pirate ships to do what pirates do best: do whatever it takes to claw their way up to dominance of the high seas. The game supports up to four players on one console and up to eight players online.

Players get to take command of their own pirate ship and do their share of raiding and pillaging to stockpile their factions with spoils of war and booty over 25 different multiplayer maps. Those who want more variety in their raiding targets can also create their own maps.

Age of Booty will make its way onto the XBox Live Arcade on October 15. The PlayStation Network will be getting in on all the pirate action on October 16. The price? A flat US$ 10 for both XBLA and PSN in the US, Europe, and anywhere else it’s available.
