For those of us itching to dive into the world of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, here’s a neat update that should get you ready for the game’s revolutionary combat system: a video of none other than Funcom Product Manager Erling Ellingsen talking about how to slit up your opponents in Age of Conan. Bit of a warning here: the footage is quite bloody, with dollops of the red stuff flying this way and that with every slice. Neat.

Looking at the video, it’s definitely clear that combat is not the type we’re used to in other MMORPGs. Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures not only features the same brutal combat we’d expect from its source material, but real-time directional slashing. There’s also the deal about you being able to move your three layers of armor in any direction at any time, so that whichever direction your enemy is whacking at you, they’ll be there to soak in the damage.
