Homebrew developer seanpaul223 has released version 2 of Age of Nations, the Lua-coded Age of Empires PSP homebrew project. The game has undergone a full code rewrite and includes quite a number of new additions. Check out the list below to see what’s new.

    • New Graphics
    • Added tables management system for units and building
    • Added timers for animations
    • Added walking animations for units
    • Map scroll removed. Will be added soon.
  • Gameplay
    • Player has resources to manage: Food, gold, wood.
    • Possibility to create new units: Each units created requires a certain quantity of food, which reduce food resources.
    • Each units created is independent from others. It has its own health, his own job, and many other things.
    • The Population Limit is fixed to 20 units.
    • Each unit can look for food, look for wood on a map, to increase the player Â’s resources.Just give him the order.
    • All natural resources such as wood and fruits are limited. When there’s no more resources on a tree, it disappears from the map.
  • Units
    • Four types of units can be created:
      • Peasants: they’re dealing with the natural resources and building tasks
      • Soldiers
      • Archers
      • Riders
      • Note: AI haven’t been coded so military type units has no tasks.

    • Peasants can build Barracks. These builds are used to make military units.
    • Peasants can build Towers.

Age of Nations v2 is still a demo release, so there are bound to be a few bugs in it. One known bug is that some building tasks don’t work. You can find out more in the readme file bundled with the download. Installation and usage instructions are also in the readme file.
