PSP Fanboy was recently able to score an interview with Lawrence Liberty, Atari‘s Senior Producer. The interview focused on all things concerning the upcoming PSP title Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics. While it’s been quite some time since we last heard anything about this title, the interview does give out a few great things to look forward to.

First, let’s talk about one of the biggest concerns that pretty much every PSP title faces: loading times. Liberty assured gamers that the load times in the game are “competitive with other recent PSP titles.” Now, that’s not much to go on, but the interesting thing here is that according to Liberty, the load-to-game ratio will be among the best-in-class.

“You will have a single load for an adventure – so you could go 10 to 30 minutes without hitting the UMD,” said Liberty. The game itself is “larger and deeper than originally anticipated, with a solid 40-hour campaign,” so a trade-off of a minute of loading time to get 30-something minutes of gameplay sounds pretty good.

Meanwhile, battles will be based on the latest Dungeons & Dragons ruleset – 3.5 to be exact. The game will be turn-based and will rely on dice rolls to determine damage and the like, just like how a tabletop version of Dungeons & Dragons goes. Morality will also come into play, and players’ choices in a given situation would affect how the story unfolds.
