Blizzard opens new games support centre in Cork City

Blizzard opens new support centre in Cork City - Image 1Job opportunities with Blizzard will come a-knocking, at least if you’re a resident over in the Republic of Ireland. We have just picked up word that the brains behind the World of Warcraft MMORPG is setting up a new European games support center over in the country’s Cork City.

Blizzard’s expansion to the country is being backed by Ireland’s Industrial Development Authority (IDA). The new facility is expected to open up 50 job opportunities come opening day, with a further 50 expected within the next three years. Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin had this to say regarding the news:

This decision by Blizzard to establish a new European customer support centre in Cork is further evidence of how Ireland is viewed internationally as a leading location for cutting edge investment in the exciting world of digital content.

Interactive entertainment is one of the fastest-growing and most popular recreational sectors globally, and this demand is creating new opportunities for Ireland as a platform for this highly innovative industry.

Blizzard’s new support centre is expected to complement the company’s other existing offices, such as those near Paris. And dare we say it – it looks like the company’s finally buffing up their support for their MMORPG’s nine-million strong player population (and maybe preparing for StarCraft II?).
