We reported a couple of days ago that Japanese magazine Famitsu just uncovered the latest video game project Capcom is currently working on. Since the beans have been spilled already for Project Treasure Island Z, Capcom decided to come up with an official announcement alongside game details and a couple of screenshots.

Capcom mentioned that Project Treasure Island Z is just a working title, meaning it may be changed once the video game is released this fall. Capcom VP for Marketing Charles Bellfield believes that Treasure Island Z is quite innovative. “Innovation has been the cornerstone of CapcomÂ’s successful history. By introducing a whole new level of interactivity, this title reinforces our commitment to pushing the limits on how people view and play games.”

The premise of Treasure Island Z is quite interesting as well, with players taking on the character of amateur treasure seeker Zack. According to legends, one revered pirate called Barbaros once stole the world’s treasure and hid it in a mysterious island. Now, our hero tumbles upon the talking skull of Barbaros and the two stroke a deal: Barbaros promises to reveal the key to the island, if Zack will help to lift the curse he is under.

In terms of gameplay, Capcom isn’t talking specifics yet but it did mention that players will explore “a variety of wondrous environments and stages, solving puzzles and interacting with the world.” The various environments include, among others, jungles, ice temples, and volcanic caves.

There’s also a game feature that will allow players to move and open objects, transform items, unlock new pathways, and navigate through the different stages. Likewise, players can do a lot of things in-game like rotate handles, turn keys to open doors, and play a piccolo.

We also found screenshots of the game from Capcom from sites WorthPlaying and Famitsu.
