Capcom predicts good 2nd half of fiscal year sales, Resident Evil 5 expected to sell over 3 million units

Capcom - Image 1Capcom‘s looking forward to a very bright future as they project four hit-making titles coming out in the next half of this fiscal year. Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) has got all eyes on it as the publisher expects it to sell over 3 million copies upon launch. No pressure there.

Pricey shots for RE 5 - Image 1Capcom is looking to the fifth installment of their Resident Evil franchise to rake in the money for the second half of the fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2009. The projection was made along with the presentation on their second-quarter fiscal report.

Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) is expected by Capcom to sell at least 3.25 million units once it releases next year (March 31 for the US). Currently, the RE franchises holds the top spot in the publisher’s best sellers, having sold almost 35 million units since the very first version. The franchise leads just slightly ahead of Mega Man.

Three other titles were named by Capcom as money-makers for the coming half of the fiscal year: Street Fighter IV (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) with a projected 1.7 million units, Bionic Commando (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC)with 1.5 million units, and Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop with a much smaller, but still healthy expectation at 500,000 units sold.
