Civilization Revolution not on the PSP, Firaxis manpower issues

Recently, we reported that the upcoming video game from Firaxis and 2K Games, Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution, is going to be released on multiple platforms. It’s currently scheduled for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, DS, and Wii next year.

Why was the PlayStation Portable left out? Eurogamer was able to get a statement from Firaxis’ Barry Caudill about the PSP version of Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution – or the lack of it. According to Caudill, they left Sony‘s handheld out simply because they were short on resources since they will be doing all the other versions in-house. He also explained that the Nintendo Wii version will be slightly delayed since they “could free up enough guys to do it, but we don’t have enough guys to then do a PSP version as well”. Caudill added:

It’s not like we’re dissing the platform – I use a PSP. We put Pirates out on it, or rather we had Full Fat do it. But see this one, the difference here is we’re doing all of these in-house and so for PSP we may have to – if it was going to come out in a timely fashion – we may have to farm it out. But right now we’re just doing all these in-house and that’s the official word

That’s about it folks. We’ll give you more updates on Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution once they become available, in the meantime, stay tuned.
