It’s official: Microsoft is buying a large chunk of land that Nintendo recently put up for sale, with confirmation coming from no other than an executive working for Nintendo of America. This makes the property the latest in a string of acquisitions Microsoft has made around its Redmond Headquarters, with no plans yet on how the newly-obtained asset is going to be utilized.

So how does this affect Nintendo of America? If you’re thinking hostile takeover, you can rest easy – NoA’s just trimming the fat, after all. Perrin Kaplan, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, confirms this. “It’s been an unused asset for some time, and it just made good business sense for us to go ahead and sell it.”

Kaplan also reassures fans and supporters of the Nintendo brand that the move to sell the 28-acre site has nothing to do with the big move that had its own bloody consequences. In fact, she reiterated that Nintendo of America has always been and will always be based on Redmond – so there’s really no need to panic as far as the fate of NoA’s concerned.
