When your top gaming platform is the console of choice for the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world, that says a lot about performance. Sony must be pretty pleased to know that the PlayStation 3 is the console of choice for the Evo Championship series, and the top players in the world will be counting on the black beauty to make sure that they get their A-game on.

Out of their six official games, three will be played on the PS3: Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Soul Calibur IV. Two will be on the PS2, while the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be on Dreamcast. The King of Fighters XII tourney back in May, which was also played on the PS3, doesn’t count since the event was organized in cooperation with SCEA. As it is, the Evo Championship Series is very PlayStation-clad.

If you still feel like getting it on with the pros and haven’t registered, there are still three days left to register for this year’s Evo, which will be held on July 17th-18th at the Rio Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas.
