Super Mario Bros sprite - Image 1Those who are into the idea of making and modifying animated sprites during their idle time will most certainly take to PIXELMAN by homebrew developer sylus101. This application is especially recommended for those who are into sprite animation, but those who haven’t tried doing anything of the sort can still jump and play around with PIXELMAN.

Here are sylus101’s revision notes on PIXELMAN v.91:

  • Modification of palette colors. I intend to merge the transparency edit and palette edit into one option though, because it’s a tad redundant…
  • Choice of whether you want to save palette or sprite AND choice of file names
  • Before I forget, press Start to save when ready… I’ll be adding a touch icon as well in an update soon.
  • More files visible in palettes and sprites folders when loading.
  • Some slight look changes, and randomization of speed of the little intro graphic.

The homebrew developer also has more things planned for this neat little application, which are outlined below:

  • Change of working directory so nds file can be wherever you want it on your card. Will be possible with n00bey’s help showing me the chdir() function.
  • Saving/loading binary files.
  • Restart option… this I’m procrastinating on…
  • and a surprise I hope people will really enjoy, but it’s going to take awhile to code…

Installation procedures, controls, and other notes are included in the readme file. You can download the application below. Enjoy!
