A month ago, we heard rumors of cross-game chat finally being introduced to PS3s this month via a firmware update 3.10. We’re still just halfway through with October, so there’s still time for it to materialize. Or, in this case, be inadvertently confirmed.

Over on the US PlayStation forums, “Naughty Dog Dev” ReklissAbandon may have pretty much confirmed the feature in a response to a question about enemy spectating in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves:

I think they wanted people to have fun and enjoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions.

The post has since been edited and deleted, which just makes it all the more deliciously suspicious. We’re keeping this tagged as a rumor for now, though. Sony isn’t confirming nor denying, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see until the update comes.
