Crytek working on new IP, will be using CryENGINE 2

Crytek logo - Image 1Crytek, the makers of Far Cry and Crysis, has announced the development of a new game based on new original IP and the CryENGINE 2.

The German developer announced that they will be setting their Kiev satellite office as a full fledged studio for the development of the upcoming new IP. Faruk Yerli, Crytek‘s managing director explained the move:

Our Kiev studio has been recruiting and growing for the past year and a half. The highly talented team there has undergone an intensive training period, and in that time they have made an invaluable contribution to our production in Frankfurt. Now that our CryENGINE 2 middleware has reached the point of maturity where it can be used to support both different types and styles of games, and run on multiple platforms, we thought it was the optimum time to begin work on a new project based on our own new and original intellectual property, and elevate the Kiev operation to full studio status.

Anyway, let’s hope we get more news regarding the “new original IP” – and maybe a confirmation whether Crysis is coming to the PlayStation 3 or not. Stay tuned.
