Down Under, PS3 prices ain’t going under either

No wonder this little koala's sad.Well, the other SCEA (A for Australia) makes it official for game journalists and anyone still holding out hope: no price cuts for 20GB PS3s sold in Australia, either.  They’ll still sell for the MSRP of 829.95 A-dollars (623.50 greenbacks). Their beefier brother, the 60GB, will still sell as well for 999.95 A-dollars ($ 751 US).

All the talk had started after Kutaragi’s TGS 2006 keynote where he revealed that the 20GB would sell cheaper in Japan. In response to all the questions from both the press and the gaming public, Sony clarified that the cut is only limited to Japan. The other bonus that Kutaragi revealed, however, about the previously 60GB-exclusive HDMI port which is now standard to the 20GB did apply to PS3s sold outside of Japan.
