French DS homebrew developer Francois is now sharing with us his concocted remake of the classic platformer You Have To Burn the Rope DS, with due permission from the original owner. In fact, not only did the original dev give his nod to the project, he even provided Francois the graphic and audio files.

While the title of the game speaks for itself, let’s talk about the gameplay just the same. YHTBTR is a platform game which puts in your control the lead character to get through a short level. At the end of the level, you go up against a boss in a fight, otherwise known as the “Grinning Colossus”.

For you to escape unscathed, you must jump to one of the torches on the wall and use it to burn the rope that hangs the chandelier from the ceiling. And just like in any slapstick comedy sequences, the chandelier will then drop on the boss, which will then significantly weaken him. Then you can go ahead throw your axes at him for good measure.

There are three new mods added to this release, on top of the various other finished items:
