Dungeons & Dragons Online: Patron System / Adventure Compendium

Dungeons & DragonsWe’ve provided you with two of the four enhancements that will be coming with the launch of the Twilight Forge Module (for Vendors and NPCs and for Rogues). Here’s news about the new system that accompanies the new Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach dynamic system. In this new system, players will gain favor with different groups if they complete specific adventures. This favor will allow the player access to rewards and other special items, and the higher the favor, the greater the reward.

The adventures in the game will be assigned by a patron organization. To gain favor – the amount of which will be determined by the Challenge Rating, difficulty setting and length of the adventure – players will have to accomplish these specific adventures set by the affiliated patron group. Players will gain a new rank (“Honored” or “Friendly”) when they’ve gained enough favors with a group. This will in turn have a corresponding reward for the players. Examples of rewards include additional bank space if you gain favor with the House of Kundarak, and access to expanded inventory slots if you gain favor with the Coin Lords. Representatives from each patron group will be responsible for giving out rewards and new ranks.

A congratulatory letter will be sent to the player’s mailbox inviting him to visit the Patron’s representative for the reward once he has earned a new rank. The new UI element will help the player track the his favor via the Adventure Compendium.

The Adventure Compendium consists of two panels: Adventures and Patrons.

The Adventure Panel will show the player’s progress through his adventures by listing his recommended adventures. Once a player completes an adventure above his recommended level, the panel will show the following information:

Adventure name
Level
Patron
Progress (highest completed difficulty)
Favor (will only be given once; repeating the adventure will not give the player additional favor)

Each adventure’s tooltip will provide:

Adventure name
Story quest it’s a part of
Who bestows that story quest
The current status of that story quest
