Gaming blog site Kotaku had a chance to interview Peter Dille, Sony’s head of marketing in the US, and he explains why no announcement was issued:

From our perspective, this show is all about content. We believe that our content story is unrivaled. It’s really a relentless line-up of great exclusive games that will speak volumes to the value inherent in the PS3. Obviously people come to E3 expecting all sorts of announces. We’ve got a plan in place for the platform. A price drop at the show wasn’t part of it.

So there you have it folks, straight from Sony. I guess we’ll have to wait a little bit longer for a price drop to happen. Maybe when the rumored Slim PS3 is announced, a PS3 price cut might happen. But then again, Sony declined to comment on this rumor over and over again. Stay tuned.
