E3 2009: Shigeru Miyamoto scouts the PSP Go

Shigeru Miyamoto - Image 1When you’re one of the top game creators from the company that dominated the handheld gaming scene at its infancy, it’s only natural that you’d be checking out the latest that the scene has to offer. That’s exactly what Shigeru Miyamoto did at E3. The A-list game creator from Nintendo was spotted checking out the newest competition in the handheld scene – the PSP Go, and from the looks of it, he was really checking it out.

While Sony staff at the expo looked on while some showed their high-profile guest around the new PSP, Miyamoto looks like he was really scrutinizing the PSP Go, flipping it around and taking a good look. Note that he didn’t send his underlings out to scout, he got up and did it himself – major props for his hands-on approach.

Since he has plans for adding more services to the DS, it’s possible that he’s checking out what the PSP Go can do that the DS does not or cannot support. Remember the handheld that they canned? Maybe Miyamoto’s checking to see if it’s time to go and whip up a new one like Sony did. No word from Miyamoto on the subject though.
