Earache Extreme Metal Racing Demo coming on the Day of The Devil

I received this email from a college friend. It’s one of those forwarded emails telling you in the first line, “BEWARE! The end of the world is here!!!” You’re not affected but you read the whole thing anyway, just for fun. The email ranted about the devil’s coming on his day – June 6, 2006 (6-6-06) – and his recruitment of people who’ll help him conquer the world. But at the end of the long email, you realize it was a joke because of the parting line: “But have no fear. Because Shaider (a Japanese character who’s dubbed as ‘Policeman of the Space’) will join forces with the Power Rangers to help us all fight evil.”

This time off, with Metro 3D‘s 6-6-06 warning, you can bet your boots that they’re not joking. Their warning goes:

Choose your own heading…or death!
For Experienced Necromancers only
Eternal damnation awaits you in the bowels of hell!
Smash the living hell out of all who stand in you way
The day of reckoning is upon us!
6-6-06.co.uk

Indeed, Judgement day is near…judgement for Earache Extreme Metal Racing, that is. Eversince the announcement of this rubber-burning title for the PSP, heavy metal fans have been raring to experience racing through hell and other wastelands with Earache Records‘ music playing in the background. Metro 3D now give you a chance to try out the experience with a demo game coming to their ‘special’ website. The demo is coming to all heavy metal and gaming fans on June 6, 2006 (is it coincidence or a ‘smart’ marketing strategy?). This may be a PC demo but it will give you a feel of the game and let you decide whether you want to get it for your PSP.

The demo will showcase a level that will place you in the bowels of hell, racing against demons on a devilish backdrop of fire and brimstone. Your opponents are hell-bent on making sure you don’t reach the pole alive so be prepared to dodge blood-soaked spinning blades and hammers.

The Earache Extreme Metal Racing website currently features a countdown to the demo release. As of press time, there are 44 days, 6 hours, and 4 minutes to Hell.
