EQII: GU31 update notes for PvP

EQ2A new year, a new beginning as the cliche goes. After reporting to you Scott Hartsman‘s take on how to infuse some new life on the SOE MMO, Everquest II, it’s now game designer Archonix’s turn to tell us what’s new with the game. He mentioned in the EQ II forums about the current changes slated for GU31 in regards to the PvP servers.

Those changes will include the adjustment of your pet’s behavior which will now persist through zoning. This means that pet classes can now turn off protect me and protect self without having to worry if their pets would be forcing them into combat once attacked after zoning.

Another change that will be brought about by the GU31 update is with regards to brigand thugs. They should no longer keep you from using evacuate spells if you did not fight back. Theo other GU31 update PvP changes are:

  • You should be able to use the griffons, clouds and the Lesser Faydark horses when dumbfire pets are used on you but you donÂ’t fight back.
  • Players should no longer become carnage flagged when crossing the appropriate zone lines with DoT spells applied.
  • The four damage triggered events from the Rallos Zek deity miracle “Retribution of Rallos” has been reduced to a single damage event.
  • The Good aligned respawn and evacuate points on the beach should now work for Citizens of Kelethin.
  • Many items that lacked the change target/remove target effects have had them added for PvP combat.
  • The additional effect for Wrath of the Burning Prince should once again trigger against PvE targets.
  • Direct damage spells and combat arts are now limited to doing a maximum of 40% of a players maximum health.
  • Token drop mechanics have been changed to curb abuse of farming alts and bots.
