Evan Wells: Naughty Dog not interested in motion control for third person games

drakeHe’s cool, he’s got the moves, he’s got the mouth – he’s Nathan Drake. Uncharted 2 still has some good mileage up to this point, but there has been a lot of talk about his next adventure and we’re caught in a guessing game trying to figure out what it will be. Based on what Evan Wells told G4 in a recent interview, we have a bigger idea what it won’t be.

“We really don’t have any interest in using the motion control to do a third-person action game”, the Naughty Dog co-president told G4TV about the franchise. “If we were going to make a motion controller game, I think we’d want to tackle it from the bottom up and make sure that we were designing the game around the motion control, the way the best Wii games are designed.”

So far, Nolan North has assured us there’s gonna be another Uncharted, but Naughty Dog’s next project may or may not involve Nathan Drake. One thing’s sure for Uncharted now though – we won’t be seeing any motion-controlled treasure hunting.
