Everquest II: Devs talk about Norrathian age, Fae featherfall

faeThe massive environment and the almost limitless number of characters in Everquest II make everyone wonder whether we can actually determine the age and life expectancy of each Norrathian. Is it the same as young and old people in real life?

Developers tell us that yes, they have similarities, except that in SOE‘s Everquest II, Ancient and Wanderlust age categories exist. Basically though, a character may either be childish, adolescent, mature, prime, old, and elder. Now if you wonder what’s the difference between the last two, it’s like this: the old Norrathian usually declines in power and skills at this point, while the elder one is probably the oldest (in terms of age) a Norrathian can reach without arcane assistance. At the elder stage, a Norrathian may die, but he may become an Ancient or Wanderlust at this point.

There’s also one concern in the Fae order where players wonder if the featherfall gives them an unfair advantage against other classes. The Fae order, as we know them, usually fall safely while not in combat. However, if you don’t belong to the Fae order, you will realize that they fall at normal rate if they get hurt during PvP. Aeralik the developer hints that you can use that to your advantage.
