Eye of Judgment developer walkthrough video

Heads up – moving eye candy coming your way with the latest video of the highly-anticipated Eye of Judgment from SCE Studios Japan. We’ve been teased and we’ve been left craving for more, but now here’s some gameplay along with a developer to walk us through the battle mechanics.

In the video, we get to see the start of a match. Like any card game, you have the elements to contend with, represented by the tiles. These tiles yield bonuses or penalties depending on the monster’s type that you summon on them. There’s also the mana factor, or the ‘money’ you spend in order to summon the creatures. And to win the match, you have to occupy at least five or more tiles on the board. Typical card-game fare, really – but instead of letting your imagination do the work, the PlayStation 3 does it for you, letting you see your own creatures duke it out.

Great presentation, decent voice acting, and an interesting, albeit simplified game mechanic. Here’s hoping the other major card game franchises pick up on what Eye of Judgment‘s currently doing (Pokemon, Magic of the Gathering, hint hint). In any case, enjoy the video!
