Developers and publisher are already starting to drop hints about what wares they’re going to show off at E3. Square Enix is going the opposite route by revealing what might not make it to the yearly expo.

The game in question is the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Director Tetsuya Nomura recently told Famitsu that changes to the game’s world map navigation system have led to a slight delay. “We were hoping to debut it at E3, but we’re not sure now,” said Nomura.

“For displaying characters on the world map, we were originally planning on using the method used by FF#, with a small Noctis running about on the screen,” he explained. “But that didn’t look too great, so we ended up switching to the method used by FF#.”

Famitsu blocked out which specific Final Fantasy games Nomura was talking about above, hence the number signs. The change is apparently a major one though.
