FW 2.0 release notes fake? Sony denies FW update for PS3?

Strange. We’re not really sure how to take this bit of info, but it seems as if yesterday’s “Sneak Peek” of the PS3’s FW 2.0 changelog was nothing but a rumor after all. Or is it? The news comes from EuroGamer, who says that Sony‘s been all hush-hush about the leaked notes that’ve been doing rounds over online forums and sites.

According to EuroGamer, Sony’s only statement regarding this issue is that they’re dismissing the leakage as “speculation.” Details of this dismissal from Sony are sketchy, and it seems that only EuroGamer has reported on it. To what extent is the mysterious “FW2.0 changelog” debunked by Sony? If the release notes are just “speculation,” then that means what exactly?

If there’s anything good to come out of this (and if we take EuroGamer for their word on it), then there’s but one thing positive about Sony’s statement. They denied the changelog as speculation… But they didn’t deny the fact that they’re coming out with a firmware update. There’s a bit of difference there. And as far as we’re concerned, we’re still going to have to play the Rumor card again.

Rumor of a rumor… Would you believe that?
