Gamers Day interview video: Virtua Tennis 3 for PS3

Virtua Tennis 3 was at the Sony Gamers Day. According to SEGA Assistant Product Marketing Manager Derrek Peel, they were there to show off the game and the 1080p output.

Not real, but “real enough”. Of course, some of the face and hair movements look stricken and frozen: you can’t expect in-game graphics to be as lifelike as pre-rendered Advent-Children-like movies. Hollywood makes photorealistic graphics in months; you expect Virtua Tennis 3 to respond on the spot. So, no, it’s not “exactly” like watching a broadcast, but it’s close enough to being a real broadcast (or at least far closer than before).

The game is extremely textured, and the physics is very realistic. What is impressively realistic is body movement and speed. And even if we won’t say that face and skin textures are absolutely photo-realistic, this a long way from the simple polygons of previous games.

Watch the video. There are some details about gameplay and features (like Career Mode). The game will be released in North America in March 2007.
