That’s a pic of it to the right (zoom in by clicking on it). It looks like, gee, hmm, I don’t know… a Wiimote? It’s a Wiimote recolor, that’s what it is, with the buttons rearranged (so it won’t be that obvious).

This Wiimote recolor Gametrak Freedom was made by In2Games, and the only known game it will work for is Squeeballs, which, by no coincidence, is also being developed by In2Games.

I don’t know if Microsoft or Sony approve of the motion-sensing controller, but it may catch on, which would suck for Nintendo because it’s probably the best thing it has going for it. In2Games isn’t particularly shy of pitting its product against Nintendo’s either, claiming that:

Unlike other motion sensing gaming systems, Gametrak Freedom accurately tracks the true 3D position and precise movements of up to four players, anywhere within a given environment, giving total control and unrivalled game play opportunities.

It’s a frakkin recolor. If it’s seriously that much better than the Wiimote, it had better detect the movements of my toe. Still, we’ll see what it’s capable of once it’s released

A big thanks to ISOHaven for the tip!
