GDC 2007: Exciting PSP news to come in May?

PSP's evolution, coming in May? - Image 1During the course of this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, there have been many adverse reactions to the apparent absence of the PSP in this major event. This was later fueled even further when Phil Harrison delivered his keynote speech, but only talked about PS3-related matters, and made no mention about Sony‘s handheld device.

However, fans of the PSP don’t have to worry. According to Harrison, the PSP was not mentioned during his speech because they had to take into consideration the fact that he had a 45-minute limit to make his presentation.

Sony’s marketing person John Koeller also adds that “We’re absolutely not overlooking the PSP.” They also acknowledge the potential of the system and promise to deliver “some more exciting news” by May. They gave no hint about what this exciting new development may be, though many are speculating that the “downloadable media and PS3-style Network features” will play a major role in this phase of the handheld’s evolution.

Could it be that the PSP will be able to access or connect to the new service, Playstation Home? Will PS3 owners be able to decorate their new virtual abodes even while on the go? Will people be able to share the contents of their PSPs via Home?
