Getting a PS3/Wii: A survival guide

PS3 and WiiFor most problems, there’s usually some survival tip or another that guides us through. And while some of the advice is downright ridiculous (like peeing on jellyfish stings), it’s still reassuring to know there’s a step-by-step guide around to tell us what to do.

Unfortunately, while natural calamity survivors have the benefit of survival guides, where does that leave us console fans? Indeed, what sort of hints did we see when we camped out for the console launches, or were forced to buy our beloved units for obscenity-inducing prices on eBay?

For the guys still longing for a how-to list that mentions some of the more sensible ideas out there, the guys over at tech-recipes have just assembled your wish. It’s a “Top 10 list” of some of the legit ways to grab either a PS3 and Wii. Half of the list discusses your online options, such as visiting Amazon, while the other half discusses the “offline” options gamers can handle.

For example: When you’re waiting at a launch line and the shop manager says they only have 10 tickets available (assuming you’re the 11th), don’t leave. Chances are there might be changes to that quota. The guy mentioning this, for example, got lucky when the store he was at added they were giving out a ticket per family, not per person. And yes, he got a ticket, and a PS3 later on. See? And he didn’t need to do anything drastic while he was in line.
