Sega finally confirmed the other day that a new Puyo Puyo! video game title will be released in Japan this coming July 26. While the series is really a big hit in Japan and Korea, the franchise is not entirely unknown in the U.S market. The puzzler first arrived in North America back in 1991 under the name Puyo Pop.

Anyway, it’s needless to say that the new title has been greatly improved as compared to the older ones and their ports. The Wii version of Puyo Puyo! has two modes, “Puyo Puyo Together” and “Remote Controller Puyo Puyo.” The former lets two players solve the same puzzle on the same field at the same time while the latter will require the use of a Wiimote per player.

We also know that there’s a lot of new things going on for the new title like a rotating playing field but details about those are still rather scarce even up to now. Sega, also, hasn’t mentioned if it’s going to bring the title in other markets.
