GoW first 10 minutes and two bonus videos
Emergence Day is here – but not for everybody. It’s like when the sun goes out, and nobody on this planet will know for few minutes, so like ripples or tremors, Epic Games‘ Gears of War won’t hit Europe until November 17 and Australia until November 23. And many American retailers won’t even have the game until November 12.
So Xboxyde put up the “first 10 minutes” of Gears of War. That’s their tradition. But they’ve also thrown in two more videos: each is a montage of sequences all taken from the first 90 minutes of the game, you know, gameplay and stuff. So you have three videos:
- first 10 minutes
- gameplay montage of sequences taken from the first 90 minutes – very little story
- gameplay montage of sequences taken from the first 90 minutes – SOME SPOILERS! [nothing too big, but just so you know]
The 720p videos need the VC1/WMV9 Advanced Profile codec – a sweet codec for the Xbox 360. You’ll need Windows Media Player 11 (or grab the codec from a codec site). Macs need VLC, mplayer, or a good ffmpeg MP.
Getting hammered. Fellow QJ staffer Chris C. says, “The site seems to be getting hammered at the moment, so if the download speeds are ridiculously low, give it a few hours.” Yeah, the files are HUGE: 200MB to a whopping 608+MB in size. It will take you a while.
