Harmonix definitely off Guitar Hero, definitely on something else

Sooner or later, you've got to move on from the guitar. - Image 1Wondering what happened with Harmonix after Guitar Hero 3 went to Neversoft? An interview with Gamasutra answers all. Guitar Hero 3 isn’t theirs anymore, for starters. Producer and Guitar Hero vet Daniel Sussman said, “Harmonix can confirm that we are not developing Guitar Hero 3,” with “these duties presumably being carried out by Neversoft,” Gamasutra added.

But they are definitely on to something else – especially since they had been purchased by MTV last year. Sussman says that Harmonix is working on another music-related game.

“One that is a bigger and more ambitious endeavor than we felt we could pursue within the bounds of the Guitar Hero franchise.”

If only we could get details for this game, we wish we could, but apparently Daniel isn’t one to kiss and tell to Gamasutra.

That this new game probably wouldn’t use a guitar (something else that probably went to Neversoft and Activision along with RedOctane) is our bet.
