Help Protect Gamer’s Rights with VGVN

Be Counted!

Last time, we introduced the Video Game Voters Network (VGVN), a group of, well, video gamers who wants to take action on important policies that may affect the video game industry. They’re there to protect the gamers’ and game developers’ rights. So far over ten thousand people have already joined up since last March. More power to them!

This time, they announced a new program called, “Play for Real: Gamer Voter Drive.” It’s the first ever voter registration drive specifically targetting adult gamers. It’s supposed to offer adult gamers a unique way to involve themselves in the governmental and political process on all issues, not only those that matter to gamers.

According to  Entertainment Software Association (ESA) President, Douglas Lowenstein, only half of 18 to 29 year olds were present in the 2004 elections, compared to 68% over 35 who voted.  Further on, he said, “we want to help engage gamers by offering this new registration tool, and by spreading the word that itÂ’s time for gamers to put down their controllers and play for real by voting in the upcoming elections.” Time to get off the couch and be counted!

If you’re over 18, a gamer, and has this insatiable passion to protect gamer’s rights, you can join them by going to their official website. Good thing there’s a couple thousand angels out there are watching our backs.
