How time flies: WoW leveling timetable

Ever found yourself wondering about how much time you’ve been allocating to your character in the World of Warcraft? A survey we picked up should give you ideas. It details the average amount of time a WoW gamer dedicates to levelling in-game, translated from hours into days:

WoW survey - Image 1

  • Server Sample: RP (High), PvE (High), PvE (High), PvP (High), PvP (High)
  • Sampling Period: January 17th 2007 – February 17th 2007
  • Sampling Resolution: ~12 minutes
  • Parsing Method: The sample unit is each unique Draenei and Blood Elf
  • Sample Size: 42,922 Blood Elves and 35,939 Draenei

The survey singled out the Draenei and Blood Elf races as these two races were new to the game come the Burning Crusade launch, and thus saw more people starting a new character at the same time. As the survey suggests, it takes a player roughly 15 days worth of playing to hit level 70, although there is a notable discrepancy in the amount of time it takes to hit 67 as compared to 68 and 69 – resupplying, perhaps?

Of course, this graph isn’t completely accurate, and some players in the target population may disagree – we’ve seen guys hit 70 on far shorter timetables.

For the guys who need to do some long term planning for their leveling and questing needs, consider this as a rough guide to how much time you should be prepping per session. We also imagine girlfriends, spouses, and parents could get a use out of this survey as well. Just post the thing in Junior’s face to let him know he needs a “time out”.
