iDowngrade v0.1 – 2.60 to 1.50 downgrader released!

DOWNGRADE!!!A previously unknown developer, son (aka Lirpa Sloof) from team ataraxia, has managed to squeeze out a downgrader for firmware 2.60 — to firmware version 1.50. Before now, it was commonly understood this was “impossible” among the general PSP community, but son has managed to find a way using various hacking techniques he acquired through playing quake 3.

Like all downgraders, you must realize that this DOES WRITE TO FLASH MEMORY, AND THERE IS A RISK OF BRICKING YOUR PSP! There are a few steps required before you downgrade. Firstly, you must go to your video directory on your PSPs memory stick, as this takes advantage of an unknown .mp4 exploit on the PSP. The steps are relatively easy to follow, and quite similar to the MPH Downgrader, which downgrades from versions 2.00 to 1.50. The steps include:

Steps to use the iDowngrader:
– Create an UPDATE folder in the /MP_ROOT/100MNV01 folder of your memory stick
– Copy EBOOT.PBP (update 1.50) in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder
– Unpack iDowngrade.zip
– Copy iDG.mp4 into your /MP_ROOT/100MNV01 folder of the memory stick
– Copy h.bin to root of your memory stick (meaning in ms0:/)
– Copy index.dat in root of your memory stick (meaning in ms0:/ as well)
– Plug in the AC adaptor

Once all of the files are copied onto your memory stick, this is the tricky part, you must now watch the video. The video will start to play, then freeze the PSP, which is normal. Now you must turn off your PSP, then turn it on, which will bring you to the 1.50 Firmware Update. Like the MPH Downgrader, this one errors at 99% but is normal. Restart your PSP and turn it back on. You will have PSP firmware version 1.50, and it will lead you through setting up language and time etc.
