Jim Lee Creating DC Universe MMO

The man with the golden pencil, Jim Lee is working on a rather exciting project for the PS3, PSP and PC. According to IGN Lee is creating an MMO set in the DC universe. Lee, apparently an avid MMO player has been meeting with Sony Austin on a weekly basis, and is on board as Executive Creative Director. When asked about the nature of the game, what he would like to see from it, and whether this would take place before or after Identity Crisis, Lee had this to say:

“This will be the DCU as we know it and it will feel current, but I can’t confirm or deny that places like Gotham or Metropolis will be in the game.”

“This is off the top of my head and may not be in the game, but one of the cool things about the DC universe is that there are multiple earths and realities and there are a lot of things you could do by sending characters to multiple earths or time periods.”

Sony were a little more forthcoming and assured that the appearance of  DC locales such as Metropolis, Keystone City, Central City and Gotham in the game “would be a fair assumption.”

Everquests own Chris Chao and Shawn Lords will be overseeing game design duties, while Lee has brought on the comic book industry talent of Ale Garza, Carlos D’Anda, and Scott Iwahashi to lend their creative drive to the title.

It begs the question though, will we get to play as Superman, Batman and The Trickster, or are we stuck creating our own lamo knock-offs? There’s no official word just yet, but methinks this would be a perfect candidate for the much bandied about synergy between PS3 and PSP via PlayStation HUB. Imagine gaming on the PS3, leaving on a trip and continuing the game online on your PSP!

Make mine Marvel huh?
