KYEC Starts PS3 Chips Testing

King Yuan Electronics Company (KYEC) has hinted that it will start testing the PS3 chips next week. This came after the company reported a 60% on-year sales growth for the first quarter. The company declined to reveal more details, but KYEC insiders have said that the company has already started testing engineering chipset samples for PS3. KYEC also undertakes testing of the graphics processing unit (GPU) for the PSP as well as the southbridge for the Xbox 360.

KYEC is expected to increase it’s sales-growth momentum in the second quarter on anticipated game-console chip testing orders. Well, that’s looking at it at business side of things, but from another point of view, it looks like Sony is making sure the shipment of the PS3 will go right on schedule.
