Left Behind: Left out of WalMart, says one protest group

Wal-MartReligion’s a very tender topic these days, and for Troy Lyndon, his Left Behind: Eternal Forces title has touched on another raw nerve that’s been strongly identified with America’s Christian community: the Constitution.

Campaign to Defend the Constitution, which monitors right-wing religious activities, has just started their own protests to what they see as an aggressively pro-Christian message in the game, and have started petitions to remove the game from Wal Mart’s shelves.

“After you kill somebody you need to recharge your soul points and to do that you need to bend down in prayer. … I think the message is extremely clear,” said Clark Stevens, co-director of Campaign to Defend the Constitution regarding what his group sees as a strongly non-tolerant message in the gameplay.

In response to criticisms, Troy has defended the game, saying the game perpetuated prayer and worship.
“There is killing of course, it is a video game. But the basis of the game is spiritual welfare,” said Troy Lyndon, “The Antichrist is the main bad guy and so you are dealing with his henchmen. Both sides are trying to win the hearts and the minds of people who are not on either side,”

We’ve recently reported this title had picked up flak from Christian Alliance for Progress, representing the growing criticism the game has been gathering from the Christian Community.

The Way of a Warrior is based on humanity, love, and sincerity; the heart of martial valor is true bravery, wisdom, love, and friendship. Emphasis on the physical aspects of warriorship is futile, for the power of the body is always limited- Morihei Ueshiba, O-sensei, Aikido
