Looking for a gaming chair? Looking for some good speakers? Look no further than Pyramat

4Here’s another gaming peripheral company you guys probably haven’t heard about, but you should have. This year’s E3 marked the second time I have gotten to look at Pyramat’s approach to a ‘gamer targeted’ chair, and I was impressed. For their new model, Pyramat has improved past their ‘lounger’ series of seating apparatus (I’m tempted to say ‘chair’, but I think ‘mat’ is more apt) and into the more common ‘rocker’ style of chair. What makes this chair unique is that it has a built in sound system to immerse users into their games.

Moreover, the Pyramat chairs boasts connectivity with your iPod, TV and other audio outputs (yay! Finally, a chair that can transmit music! What I’ve always wanted!). All joking aside, there is a huge market for these types of multipurpose chairs that are low to the ground, easily foldable, and have features that will make normal chairs seem like archaic relics. What also sets Pyramat apart is the quality of their goods, where their chairs are made of soft and breathable material and the chairs feature substantial 3 ” Full Range ARX™ speakers and a 5.5” Powersub™ Subwoofer.

2I can’t remember which type of rocker I tried out exactly, but it was definitely comfortable, and easily adjustable. I slid into the wonderfully comfy seat as we played a few round of Halo 2. From the get-go, the speakers were a new and invited experience while the Subwoofer provided great bass and vibration. Players can control the volume on the right side of their chair to whatever suits them and just sit back and relax. While I don’t have a particular ‘gaming chair’ at the moment, my short playtime with the Pyramat rocker may have convinced me to get one, as it does make quite a difference. I’m not going to use the tired cliché that “once you play with the Pyramat chairs, that you’ll never go back,” but any moderate-serious gamer should give one of their products a whirl.3

The three versions of the rocker series of chairs are the PM 220, the S1000 (not out yet) and the S2000, while the only lounger style is the PM 550. Prices for PyramatÂ’s 3 currently available flavors of chairs range from $100 to $150, and are definitely within the price range of the moderate gamer.
