Square Enix’s Yohinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama may think that an HD remake of Final Fantasy VII is a humongous undertaking, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want to have a crack at it. Well, Toriyama anyway. The Final Fantasy XIII director recently expressed interest in such a project.

“I’m really interested to see this more complete form of Final Fantasy VII portrayed more realistically with the voice and animation and all the suttle expressions there,” he told GameTrailers. “I’d be interested to see that and to make that, it would be a great experience. I don’t get tired of people asking that question, so I’ll continue to answer my thoughts as long as people keep asking.”

You can hear more of Toriyama’s thoughts in the video below. The remake part starts at around the 4:20 mark.
