Worldwide games portfolio planner for Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) David Edery said that Microsoft is currently looking into providing both user-created content and episodic content for XBLA customers.

Mr. Edery has also mentioned that while Microsoft is excited about the prospect of bringing more these services to the XBLA, the company is thinking of the best way of going about it. It was also stated that Microsoft is waiting for the right quality titles to come along before going the extra mile with digital delivery.

While Microsoft is enthusiastic about the direction that the Xbox Live Arcade is taking, the company is also concerned about providing excellent service. Mr. Edery summed it up best in his statement:

We have some really big initiatives going on right now and I can say that everyone internally is really excited about user-created content.

It’s an obvious statement but we don’t want to put out bad content. We need to see a really, really good episodic franchise before we go ahead and throw a bunch of half an hour or hourly gameplay episodes on our service.
