Namco Bandai planning to set up European studio?

Masayuki MatsuoNamco Bandai Games Europe has only been in existence for barely a month but it seems that the company is really gung-ho about challenging the European videogame market’s share leaders and is already looking towards expansion.

In an exclusive interview with MCV, European president of NBGE Masayuki Matsuo revealed that the company already has plans to set up a new European development studio and branch out into more “western” genres.

According to Matsuo, NBGE is eager to get started on its own development base in the territory, and is aware of key differences between Eastern and European gamers.

“Although we donÂ’t have any immediate plans to set up development facilities in Europe, we would like to look in this direction in the long and medium term,” Matsuo told MCV. “Keeping in mind the unique aspects of the European market, we would like to study carefully any possibility to develop different genres of games for the Euro market.”
