NASCAR 08 video interview

More laps, more cars, and certainly more crashes in this video interview that’s all about the first next-gen title in its series, EA SportsNASCAR 08. We get you the skinny on what’s to expect with the racing license that’s all about speed and making it to the finish line in one piece.

This being the very first next-gen entry in the series, there’s a whole slew of brand-spanking new bells and whistles that’s bound to make any fan excited. Obviously, graphics have been ramped up to an entirely new level. The smoke effects, the particle effects, the sparks that fly when you grind your car against the railings – everything’s been improved. One thing to watch out for is the real-time sunset system, where you can actually see the sky transition from a bright blue morning to a purple dusk, and the lights of the track itself turning on so that you know where you’re going.

Players wondering about whether NASCAR 08‘s going to have an online mode, rejoice – there’s going to be one, and it allows up to 12 players to participate in the race, a considerable increase from last-gen’s four-player races. Car customization has also reached a new high, with every little change you make actually able to subtly change how your car drives. Sweet!

NASCAR 08 will be rolling into  PS3 and Xbox 360 store shelves this July 23rd, just before the Indianapolis race. To tide you over before then, here’s the video interview! Enjoy.
