For those of you who aren’t familiar with Evan Wells, he started as the lead designer of Crash Bandicoot 3 when he went onboard Naughty Dog and was well known for a lot of his past “cartoony” platformers, such as Gex and Jak & Daxter.

As he previously mentioned in a recent interview, he stressed that Naughty Dog plans to concentrate on only one platform at a time when it comes to developing games, Sony‘s PS3 in this case. So people who are expecting a multi-platform release of Uncharted may not be getting one due to the many restrictions other consoles have compared to the PS3.

Wells admitted that Naughty Dog’s upcoming game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was a deliberate attempt to create a more seriously themed game for the PS3. However, fans of his more animated series won’t have to be disappointed. He also mentioned that after Uncharted, the team is looking into a possible next gen version of Jak & Daxter.

The question was posted by kissthestick, which Wells was quick to answer:

Everybody here would love to do a Jak game on the PS3. However, I’m not sure about the timing. We want to stick with only working on one game at a time to maintain our focus. Everybody is taking a much deserved vacation right now and we will decide what we’re doing next when people get back.

So does this mean a post-Christmas Jak & Daxter gift from Wells and his team some time in the near future? We’ll probably find out once the holidays are over. Until then we’ll be keeping our eyes out for any news from Naughty Dog.

Wells also covered a lot of other stuff that you can check out in full transcript of the live text interview through the via link below.
