Neltharion: big, bad, and EVIL

Those are the words of Neltharion, or Deathwing as he is more commonly known in Blizzard‘s epic MMO. We covered something about his son Nefarian the other day, and today, we’re going to cover something about their family background.

Neltharion is one of the Aspects that the Titans assigned to take care of Azeroth. There’s just wrinkle there: he discovered the Old Gods and went mad. He tricked the other Aspects (Alexstrasza, Ysera, Nozdormu, and Malygos) into making Dragon Soul (think Sauron and the One Ring), planning to use it for world domination.

He turned into Deathwing the Destroyer and the Dragon Soul turned into the Demon Soul – synchronicity, eh? He got the goblins to forge him adamantite armor to protect himself from the side effects of the Demon Soul. After an unfortunate series of events, he lost it but he eventually found it again. He then imprisons Alexstrasza (who he kind of has a thing for) in Grim Batol.

He disappeared right after the Demon Soul was destroyed and the other Aspects got their power back. Little is known about his whereabouts but he did manage to procreate before doing his disappearing stunt. His kids inherited the tendency for world domination. Nefarian got hold of the Blackrock Clan while Onyxia uses more subtle means by disguise.

Anyway, we just might see Deathwing in the future. Meanwhile, we can slay his children over and over again- that’s if you can be troubled to visit Azeroth.
