Netherlands introduces an International Game Architecture and Design Course

NHTVThe video game industry is really on the rise. And Netherlands have seen that there are a lot of career opportunities available in this bull market; hence, State Secretary for Education, Culture, and Science Mark Rutte approved the proposal to start a bachelor program in International Game Architecture and Design. NHTV, together with Playlogic and the council of Breda, has already developed the curriculum for the new bachelor program.

All students will be trained in concept development, game design, and project management and will then move on to a specialization of their choice (they can choose to specialize in either “programming” or visual art”). The “Game Lab” will serve as the students’ playground – here, students can work in groups to create their own games. Early parts of the program will let students try their skills at creating simple games. As the course progresses, more complex projects are given. If you’re thinking, “Those Netherlands kids have all the fun”, think again. You actually have a shot at taking this course. Since the video game industry is an international success, the International Game Architecture and Design Course will be stirred in an international flavor. It will be taught in English and will see Dutch and foreign nationals from the professional international gaming industry teaching the subjects.

And students will come from Netherlands and abroad. So if you want to join in on the fun, or just see what the hype is all about, visit the NHTV website for info on the International Game Architecture and Design program. Interested parties can apply for the program before May 15. And if you’re one of them, you better hurry…only 120 students will be admitted.
